A little candor…

Don’t know how many out there followed the backlash of David Jaffe’s post on game reviews and a few other things that have been written. There’s been so much BS spewed over something that in all honesty, a lot of guys in games would agree with. David stood up for what he believes. Of course we have to care about what we do; otherwise we’d make crap games. David makes a great point and I only wish there were more people who could speak their mind in this industry.

That being said, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. There have been plenty of great games that have received poor reviews; some of those reviews were warranted, some were just due to frustrated, wannabe, having-nothing-better-to-do haters and this industry has its share of those types.

Ultimately, review or not, isn’t it about whether people are having fun playing your game? I wonder what would happen if some of the games we loved playing growing up came out under the scrutiny of today’s industry. Wonder if they would still be revered as they were then…
